FAGD stands for Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning Fellowship takes dedication to dental continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Only about 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows.
To become an AGD Fellow, a dentist must:
· Complete over 500 credit hours of CE.
· Earn 350 of those 500 credits in live courses.
· Pass an exam equal in difficulty to board certification exams.
Since 1985, Dr. McCann has the dental experience specializing in comprehensive dentistry and dental business management, Dr. McCann is well-respected for his ability to assist patients in becoming as healthy as they can be. His winning combination is Creating a relaxed and welcoming environment and Taking the time to educate his patients, enabling them to make informed choices about their own health and treatment needs.
Dr. McCann pledges quality and excellence in every aspect of his practice. His choice is, whenever possible, to prevent his patients from developing dental diseases, rather than to wait until they occur, and then treat them. Throughout each visit, Dr. McCann provides comprehensive quality care, using advanced dental techniques in a reassuring and relaxed environment.
Dr. McCann’s philosophy is based on his concern for the importance and uniqueness of each of his patients. Because of this concern, he treats each patient as an individual, and engages each of his patients in a discussion that allows the patient to understand their level of health. Few dentists take the time taken by Dr. McCann to ensure that his patients can make informed choices.
Dr. McCann has a Bachelor of Science in Biology, from Virginia Commonwealth University; Doctor of Dental Surgery, from the Medical College of Virginia; School of Dentistry; and a Certificate in Dental Business Management from the Center for Professional Development, Business School for Dentists, Scottsdale, Arizona.
Dr. McCann has belonged or presently belongs to many professional societies, including the American Dental Association; Virginia Dental Association; Northern Virginia Dental Society; Academy of General Dentistry; Virginia Academy of General Dentistry; NC Academy of General Dentistry; American Prosthodontic Society; American Mensa; and the Implant Society of Northern Virginia.
Dr. McCann believes in giving back to the community, and has volunteered his time to local Retirement Communities, Senior Citizens Centers and his church.
Perhaps most importantly, Dr. McCann is passionate about his commitments to his patients, his staff, and his community. He makes a positive impact daily within his community, professionally and personally.
